This year&#8217;s event is occurring in Porto, Portugal for the 10th anniversary of <a href=\"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2022\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\">WCEU<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t join in person this year? The day began with an overview about the various teams and what they&#8217;d be working on during the day.\u00a0 We then broke off into those teams. It is an amazing opportunity to ask questions in person and get familiar with team members.<\/p>\n<p>During lunch a group photo was taken.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Look at the turnout for Contributor Day at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WCEU?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\">#WCEU<\/a>! It is fantastic to see that so many people want to contribute to WordPress <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/13.1.0\/72x72\/1f970.png?w=993&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\ud83e\udd70\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em;max-height: 1em\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WCEU2022?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\">#WCEU2022<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/evyZ0BU0MQ\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/evyZ0BU0MQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; WordCamp Europe (@WCEurope) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WCEurope\/status\/1532363857775280130?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\">June 2, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"dinner\">Speaker, sponsor, volunteer dinner<\/h2>\n<p>To celebrate those that make WordCamps possible, often there is a speaker, sponsor, and volunteer crew dinner.\u00a0 The trip across the city to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apdl.pt\" link=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\">Porto Cruise Terminal<\/a> and tuk tuk ride to the venue led to a breathtaking view of the shoreline at dusk. We mingled over supper with a DJ, and took in the best views from the balcony overlooking the shoreline. A surprise by traditional music performance featuring a Galician gaita, which is similar to a bagpipe.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"day1\">Day 1 sessions<\/h2>\n<p>Highlights from sessions during Day 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Milan Ivanovic\u00a0<\/strong>helped us reflect upon how Covid as impacted the WordPress community, and why we still do community.\u00a0 Milan shared a quote from Plugin Review Team, Mika Epstein.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Besides just inviting people from different backgrounds, we need to do a hell of a lot better with\u00a0<strong>keeping<\/strong> them.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.sucuri.net\/author\/victor\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener\">Victor Santoyo<\/a> <\/strong>shared about &#8220;Security lessons learned from 2021&#8221;.
